Occhio Partnership

About Occhio

Occhio was founded by designer Axel Meise, with the aim to create a universal lighting system that can be adjusted to suit  any specific situation or requirement. Over the last decades, this quest culminated in a holistic range of immaculate modular luminaires, with form and function conceived and constructed with the utmost attention to detail and care.

Axel Meise and 1zu33’s Hendrik Müller naturally bonded over a shared appreciation of the use of light in architecture, both cherishing contributions by the likes of  David Chipperfield and Tadao Ando. The many conversations during their collaboration led to a shift in focus in the store and showroom design, resulting in a more architectural feeling and attitude.

Luminaires in the Occhio stores and showrooms are shown in eloquent domestic settings, which occasionally allow for slight imperfections where this enhances a shadow play. Being displayed in these environments allows the luminaire ranges to be fully appreciated, while appearing comprehensible for professional and private clients alike.
